To host international events, the city of Auckland launched the Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme (DIDP). The aim was to make the waterfront<\/span> The works include the seismic reinforcement of the road and networks behind the existing quay wall, the modification of the existing pier with the creation of 6 berths for ferries and the creation of a public space along the quay, as well as the redevelopment of Quay Street.
