Togo<\/strong><\/h2><\/h1><\/div>

The port of Lom\u00e9, which has undergone substantial upgrades in recent years, is now one of West Africa\u2019s most eficient and modern ports. <\/span><\/p>\n

To enable the port to handle container ships with a capacity of up to 7,000 TEU, Togo Terminal awarded in 2012 a contract to a joint venture led by Soletanche Bachy to design and build a new quay. <\/span><\/p>\n

The project included the construction of a 450-metre quay wall and the port\u2019s turning basin and access channel. The combi-wall quay was built with 30 metre long large-diameter (1,412mm) metal piles and sheet piling. <\/span><\/p>\n

The access channel was dredged to a depth of 15 metres and the turning basin was built. More than a million hours of work were required to complete the project and it featured very strong involvement of Togolese and other African workers and supervisory staf.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
